A backyard trash fire Thursday afternoon traveled across a fence row to a neighboring property destroying a storage building and damaging a home on Winston Drive in Seymour.

Firefighters from Seymour and Blount County responded to the blaze after a passerby reported seeing the backyard storage building in flames. Sevier County dispatch logged the call at 2:35 PM, followed shortly by Blount County.

“We were driving by and noticed the storage building on fire so we stopped and banged on the door of the house, and then my wife went across the road to the neighbors,” said Deron Foreman of Seymour. “The neighbor called the fire department.

"We watched the fire move from the storage building to the house deck and called the fire deparment four times before they arrived because it took them so long to get there," Foreman said.
