Gorgeous Views, Great People, the slogan at the bottom of the new Welcome to Seymour sign says it all.

The colorful three dimensional sign, located on the southbound side of Chapman Highway, was unveiled Monday after months of fundraising efforts by members of the Seymour Rotary Club.

“It’s been in the works for a few years,” said Rotary president Larry Finchum. “We finally decided to get serious.”

With a millions of visitors passing through Seymour every year to visit the Smoky Mountains, the sign is important in welcoming visitors and instilling community pride, Finchum said.

Perhaps the most appealing aspect of the new sign is the slogan. The slogan was created by a student at Boyds Creek Elementary School after a contest was held among all the schools in the area.
