For the first time in 21 years, local gal Dolly Parton does not hold the record for the most top 10 singles by a female country artist, it was revealed last week when the new country charts came out.

“Cowgirls Don’t Cry” by Brooks & Dunn, featuring Reba McEntire, entered the top 10 at No. 9 to give the redhead diva 56 credited top 10 singles compared to Dolly’s total of 55.

Dolly initially captured the record when she tied Loretta Lynn’s total of 51 in 1988, taking the title on her own with 52 in 1989.
