KNOXVILLE – Tennessee led by as many as 19 points over South Carolina.

After a South Carolina comeback, the Vols had to hold on to win by only three points, 82-79.
The Vols led 43-28 at the break, shooting 17-29 from the field. Tennessee led by 17 with 8:18 left in the game, when the Gamecocks turned on the heat.

South Carolina cut the lead to four, 81-77, on a 3-pointer by Zam Fredrick. They then hit one more shot after a Tennessee free throw.
Tyler Smith led the Vols with 20 points, followed by Scotty Hopson with 19, and Cameron Tatum with 12.

Brian Williams also added 11 rebounds for the Vols.
