SEVIERVILLE – Seymour rallied from an 8-point halftime deficit to beat Sevier County 44-41 on Thursday night.
“We did enough to win, we were very fortunate,” said Coach Andy Rines. “We made just enough plays. We played better in the second half.”
The Eagles were down 22-14 at halftime. Seymour’s leading scorer, freshman Christina Slay, had only two points at the half.
The Eagles started the fourth quarter on a 7-0 run. Seymour took its first lead of the game on Shaelyn Brown’s field goal with about seven minutes left in the game.
Sevier County tied the game 37-37 on Kendal Baxter’s two free throws with 1:30 left in the game.
