SEVIERVILLE – A Sevierville family is hoping to raise enough money to take a terminally ill relative to Walt Disney World in Florida before time runs out.

Tammy Hurst Firanek, who has breast and bone cancer, said her uncle, Larry Hurst, of Talbott, has about six months to live. Firanek said Hurst, 54, has always dreamed of seeing the ocean and meeting his hero, Mickey Mouse, at Walt Disney World.

“They haven’t given Larry long to live,” Firanek said. “He’s dropped a lot of weight since he got sick. He’s not doing good at all, so we want to take him in February. He wants us to go with him, but we can’t do it out of our bill money. So we’re asking for help from the community.”

Firanek said Hurst found out he had cancer of the liver, lungs and colon in July, when a knot formed on his side and he started feeling sick. Since then, Firanek said, Hurst has been undergoing chemotherapy twice a month and has a pump he uses at home.
