KNOXVILLE – Local students are getting a chance to display their artwork during the Third Annual East Tennessee Student Art Exhibition at the Knoxville Museum of Art.

The education staff of the museum, working together with a committee of area art educators, designed the competition to offer middle- and high-school students the opportunity to display their talents and be honored for their accomplishments in a professional art museum environment.

The event, which runs through January 11, is presented by the museum and the Tennessee Art Education Association, and is sponsored by Regal Entertainment/Regal Foundation Group.

Public, private and home schools, grades six to 12, in East Tennessee were allowed to submit up to 20 artworks per teacher. Categories included ceramic, drawing, digital imagery, mixed media, painting, computer graphics, sculpture, traditional photography and printmaking.
