The Seymour Lady Eagles might have faced one of the better teams they will see all season Monday night in a 49-31 loss to the Heritage Lady Mountaineers.
The Lady Eagles managed just eight second-half points against the smothering Lady Mountaineers’ defense.
“That was one of the top two or three teams we’ll play all year if not the best,” said first-year Lady Eagles’ head coach Andy Rines. “They have a great defense. They really took us out of what we wanted to do in the second half.”
If funneling the ball inside to freshman standout Christina Slay was what the Lady Eagles had planned for Monday night, then Heritage did indeed put a stop to it.
