This time of the year is set aside to give thanks. But who do you give thanks to?
That depends on what thanksgiving has turned into for your family.
The common denominator seems to be the turkey dinner, the gathering of the family and the day after.
The day after is the big start of the Christmas Sales Season.
Many woman and their daughters would head out of the house as early as 5:00 AM Friday morning to be the first in line at the doors of the stores with the major markdowns.
On this day, it’s not about the family any more or even giving thanks. The family has had their fill. It’s about getting the best deals that they could lay their hands on before anyone else got it.
It might be different this year.
Many mothers and daughters will not be leaving at the early morning hours to seek out the deals of the year because they have maxed out their credit cards and have spend their hard earned cash on the high cost of gas and food the past year.
It’s no secret that many of the local food banks have bare shelves with lots of people still to feed.
So to be thankful during these times is needless to say vital to keep the hope alive, but a little more difficult than in the years past.
History tells us that hope and faith is what has always prevailed in the human mind.
So we need to remember what this day of Thanksgiving really signifies and truly give thanks.
I don’t need to list all that we can be thankful for. That is for each family to determine for themselves.
On the other hand, for my family I am thankful for a wonderful wife, two amazing children and for all of our health. And, I am very thankful for living this the United States of America for I know how life is in other parts of the world.
I am also thankful for having made wonderful friends in this community. Also I am thankful for all the readers, subscribers and advertisers of these pages.
Obviously I could go on and on and on, but it’s not necessary to bore you with my thanks. The important thing is that you give thanks and most importantly, keep the faith.
I would like to wish each and everyone of our you the warmest Happy Thanksgiving.
