According to Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals a local Seymour man is in guarded condition in UT Hospital after suffering from an accidental self inflicted gunshot wound on Tuesday Nov. 19th.

According to investigators, Clint Oppie, age 36 was cleaning his handgun at a home located 309 Strata Court, Seymour when it discharged striking him in the upper chest.

Oppie was transported via ambulance to UT hospital where he was admitted for treatment.

Oppie was visiting his brother’s home while on leave from the military. No charges are expected at this time.
