It’ll be kind of surreal next August when the Seymour Eagles begin the 2009 football season.
Not only will a different head coach be roaming the SHS sideline for the first time in 34 years, but the Eagles will be forming some new rivals against some teams they haven’t met on the football field in recent memory. But contrary to popular opinion, the Eagles 2009 schedule won’t be a murderer’s roll.
The Eagles will face four of the same opponents it played in 2008 and only three of Seymour’s 2009 regular-season opponents made the playoffs this past season.
When longtime defensive coordinator Jim Moore takes over for legendary former SHS head football coach Gary Householder next season, his team will be competing in Region 2, Class 5A alongside such schools as Cherokee, Cocke County, Jefferson County, Morristown East, Morristown West, Sevier County and South-Doyle.
