Marble Springs State Historic Site will be hosting the annual Candle Light Tours, Saturday, Dec. 6 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event provides an opportunity for the Knoxville community to celebrate the holidays while stepping back in time to the 18th century in an interactive, educational environment.
This event offers all the warmth of the holiday season – without all the commercialization. Activities will include tours of the historic homes decorated for the holidays, 18th century carolers, live music and dancing. Guests will also enjoy a good old-fashioned bonfire while partaking in light refreshments. Wagon rides provided by Twin Cedar Farm will be available for $5 per person.
“These candle light tours offer guests an opportunity to enjoy the holidays – without all the hustle-bustle. Additionally, hosting events like this on site provides us with an opportunity to showcase the rich history we have to offer here in the South Knoxville community. It also allows us to highlight and commemorate the accomplishments and memory of John Sevier,” said Lisa Fall, PhD, a member of the Board of Directors for Governor John Sevier Memorial Association.
“This event is all about bringing the community together,” Fall added.
A $2 per person donation will be collected at the entrance. All activities take place at the Marble Springs state historic site: 1220 W. Governor John Sevier Highway, 37920. For more information please call 865-573-5508 or email marblesprings@hotmail.com.
