The most successful season in Seymour Lady Eagles soccer history came to a close Wednesday afternoon at the Class A/AA State Tournament in Chattanooga with a 4-0 quarterfinal loss to defending state champion Franklin Road Academy.

Despite a tough first-round draw, the Lady Eagles made the most of the program’s first-ever state tournament appearance by playing the powerhouse Lady Panthers off their feet through first 30 minutes of the contest, played at Chattanooga Christian School.

FRA tallied the game’s first goal in the 37th minute  The Lady Panthers, winners of four of the last five Class A/AA state titles, scored again just before the end of the first half to gain some separation from the upset-minded Lady Eagles going into the halftime break.

The Franklin Road Academy head coach, Ken McDonald, was impressed with the vigor shown by the upstart Lady Eagles, particularly during the first half of Wednesday’s state tournament tilt.
