According to Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals three people have been charged in connection with a counterfeit and forgery scam.
Detectives with the Sevier Co. Sheriffs Office along with detectives from Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville Police Departments have arrested and charged Travis R. Trentham age 29, Jennifer R. Messer age 27 both of 4333 Trentham Way, Pigeon Forge and Scarlett M. Adcock age 19 of 527 Perry Way Sevierville with multiple counts of forgery.
Detectives state that the trio rented a computer from a local rent to own store and ordered special paper and ink from the internet and were able to print counterfeit payroll checks from several businesses located in the county.
Detectives believe that the three may have passed more checks that have not been discovered at time of investigation.
Anyone that thinks that they have received or cashed one of the checks in question are asked to contact the law enforcement agency in their area.
