The Carson-Newman football team moved up one spot to No. 11 in the latest American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches’ Poll, released Tuesday morning.
The Eagles, fresh off a 59-18 rout of Bentley (Mass.) Friday night, benefited from a loss by Shepherd (W.Va.), who was ranked in the top ten last week but suffered a 21-14 loss to Glenville St.
Valdosta State remains the top-ranked team in this week's poll after having their match-up with Southern Arkansas postponed this past Saturday due to weather-related issues from Hurricane Ike. The Blazers received 21 first-place votes.
Grand Valley St. received two first-place votes and holds down the second spot in the rankings, followed by North Alabama, Abilene Christian and Nebraska Omaha.
