Brilliantly colorful costumes and traditional Korean dance will be included when the Far East Korean Children’s Choir performs a free concert in Seymour.
The King's Academy, in cooperation with Grace Baptist Church of Seymour, is hosting the choir for one performance in the church auditorium at 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 22. The church is located at the entrance to The King’s Academy on the corner of Boyds Creek Highway and Smothers Road.
The Far East Korean Children’s Choir is a ministry of the Far East Broadcasting Company. Founded in 1945, FEBC is a non-denominational, international radio network that broadcasts Christian programs in more than 150 languages from 32 transmitters located throughout the world. FEBC-Korea owns and operates nine Christian radio stations in Korea, including an international station on Jeju Island.
Choir members are selected through a rigorous audition process. The children, ages seven to thirteen, receive training from a voice teacher, choreographer and conductor. A variety of concerts are performed each year at cultural centers, theme parks, universities and churches throughout Korea and the United States.
Known for their professionalism and cheerful, warm smiles, the children have delighted audiences with their excitement and pageantry.
“This performance of the Far East Children’s Choir is not to be missed,” says The King’s Academy Upper School Director Steve Sharp. “The quality of the music and choreography, and the colorful costumes make for a phenomenal presentation." TKA typically hosts over thirty students from South Korea in its middle and high school boarding program. Sharp taught for one semester in Korea and traveled extensively throughout the country during that time.
Everyone in the surrounding area is invited and encouraged to attend this unique event. There is no charge for admission. A love offering will be received to support their ministry. For more information call The King’s Academy at 865-573-8321, ext. 119 or email info@thekingsacademy.net.
