I was reading in the paper that the director of Sevier County schools wants to raise the sales tax to put up a new high school, etc. Whatever became of government "living within their means" like the TAXPAYERS have to? May I suggets properly allocating the "accomodations tax" which is already being collected AND taxing, for example, cabin rentals, etc., the same as commercial motels and hotels, instead of as a private residence.

In addition, has he (or a any other public official) considered reducing their pay rate? Also, how many people do you know with a "part-time" job, who receive full health insurance benefits, like our commissioners do? Or, how about our assistant county mayor position at $92,000 annually for a job with no "job description," to be made up "as we go?" I will gladly take the job for $52,000. I think I can "manage" on $1,000 a week. In fact, having owned a business for 25 years with 35 full-time employees, I think I could handle it very well. Or, maybe I could have county mayor's job for $52,000 (don't know what his pay is, but I'll bet it's more than his assistant).

Sincerely,

Don Beckmann
