The Seymour High School golf team will be looking for a few good men (and women) Monday morning at 10 ‘o clock at Creekside Plantation Golf Course when the SHS coaches will hold a one-day tryout session to help reinforce what looks to be promising Eagles and Lady Eagles squads for the 2008 high school golf season.

The Seymour boys golf team returns four seniors from last year’s 28-2 county and district championship squad. The girls, on the other hand, return a senior, a junior and a sophomore from last year’s 6-19 squad that finished third in the district.

Seymour assistant golf coach Lee Ramsey said this year’s tryouts will be important to the future of the SHS golf program.

“We’re trying to replace two seniors—Willie Sexton and Kevin Huff—from last year’s boys team that were a couple of All-State-type golfers,” said Ramsey. “I know it’s impossible to replace two players like that. We know there’s not two other players around like them. So being practical, we’re looking for two decent golfers who shoot decent scores. We don’t just want to bring in two guys to just fill some shoes.”
