
The Seymour Volunteer Fire Department had the opportunity of setting up a practice fire on Boyds Creek next to the cemetery on N. Rogers Road last Friday.
The training session started around 3:30 P.M. with a couple of engines and the filling of a portable water supply.
After one on one training of the new recruits regarding the importance of the proper gear, how to handle yourself and what to watch for plus a number of other important lessons, the crew set several fires.
After the fires were set, the new recruits got the feel first hand of an actual house fire.
There were about six to eight fire starts after which, the entire house was burned to the ground.
