FRANKLIN, TENN. — The 2008 registration deadline for the open event competitions at this year’s Tennessee Senior Olympics state finals is quickly approaching.
Tennessee seniors can register to compete in archery, tennis, pickleball, racquetball, cycling (5K/20K), the 5K and 10K runs, or a one-mile power walk. Registration for these events is open to all seniors who did not participate or qualify in the district games.
The Tennessee Senior Olympics state finals will be held July 18-24 in Williamson County. Events are open to seniors 50 and older; however, participants who are 49 years old are eligible to compete as long as their 50th birthday occurs before the end of 2008.
This year’s state finals are a qualifying site for the 2009 Summer National Senior Games, Aug. 1-15 in San Francisco.
“This year’s Tennessee Senior Olympics finals competition is expected to attract more than 1,800 Tennessee seniors to Williamson County,” said Christine Dewbre, executive director of the Tennessee Senior Olympics. “Open registration is a great opportunity for these seniors to showcase their athletic abilities among their peers.”
