Carter turned in his resignation to Seymour High Principle Greg Clark today as both a teacher and Band Director.
“I taught him while he was in school and I can’t say enough good about him,” Clark told the Seymour Herald. “I can’t say enough good about him and what he’s done for our community. He’s put a great band together and they are second to none. He’s given a lot of his personal time to accomplish what he has with the band. He’s been a tremendous asset to the community and he will definitely be missed by the staff, the students and myself,” concluded Clark.
“I look around and I see what happens when a parent spends a lot of time with their children when their young and what happens when they don’t and I feel like I’m a “A” Band Director and a “C+” dad and I need to switch that around,” Carter told the Seymour Herald.
Carter says that it was a family decision. He also said, "As I looked around at other band directors and either they had a successful family or a successful band," He says he rarely saw both.
