The Monday evening regular County Commission Meeting revealed that not only the County’s own rules were not followed, but that a proposed rule would surely cause the commissioners to violatef the Sunshine Law.
During the meeting, a motion was made to amend the rules followed by a seconded. Then came discussions. At which time Commissioner Bryan Delius stood up and questioned the legality of proposed changes along with the legality of the Steering Committee meeting where the proposed rules changes were discussed and formulated.
Delius stated that the commissioners or the public were not timely notified of the Steering Committee meeting or of the proposed rule changes of that evening.
In addition, Delius pointed out that the County Attorney made a mistake in approving the proposed changed as they would conflict with current law.
Delius stated, "I believe this is a violation of the Tennessee 'Open Meetings Act' and therefore the actions of the Steering Committee would be void,"
