Due to rain, The King’s Academy’s Kites at the Academy event was postponed from Saturday, April 5, to Saturday, April 12. The event is again scheduled to take place between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on the baseball field at the academy in Seymour.
Homemade kites of all shapes, colors and sizes will take flight. Awards will be presented in the following categories: Highest Flying, Largest, Smallest, Most Original, Prettiest, and Best All-Around. To qualify for an award, a kite must be homemade and must have a continuous flying time of at least one minute.
In case of inclement weather April 12, the kites will be judged in Woody Auditorium in all the above categories except Highest Flying.
The public is invited to attend and encouraged to participate in the free activities.
David Weech, who recently moved to Seymour, and whose children attend The King’s Academy, is directing the event. Weech organized kite festivals in The Bahamas where he previously resided. He is available to assist in kite design and construction.
