The University of Tennessee retired Ernie Grunfeld’s No. 22 jersey at halftime of the Vols’ 63-60 win over Kentucky Sunday afternoon at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Grunfeld is UT’s second all-time leading scorer with 2,249 career points. He held the title of the Vols’ all-time points leader for two decades until Allan Houston scored 2,801 in his four-year career to break the record in 1993.

Grunfeld played with fellow All-American Bernard King under legendary Vols’ head coach Ray Mears.  The Grunfeld-King duo was famously dubbed “The Ernie & Berne Show”.

Grunfeld and King were the Southeastern Conference’s top two scorers from 1975-77.
