A hard-fought 58-51 overtime win over Berean Christian Friday night allowed the Seymour Eagles (4-11, 0-2) to go into Tuesday night’s pivotal District 3-AA contest at Gibbs on a winning note.

In the Eagles second victory over the small Knoxville private school this year—Seymour defeated the Eagles of Berean 64-49 at SHS on Nov. 20—head coach Randy Moore’s Seymour squad overcame a 16-1 first-quarter Berean lead before winning the game in overtime.

“For us to come back after being down 16-1, I thought our boys showed a lot of courage,” said Moore. “Berean is a good, scrappy team but I think our boys are getting better.

“We’re 3-3 since Christmas and that’s not bad,” Moore added. “We’ve got Gibbs and Fulton coming up and we’ll have our work cut out for us against both of those teams.
