A waiting list for rental assistance in Sevier County will open at 6 a.m. on Monday, January 14, 2008 and close at midnight on January 18, 2008.

There is a change to the application process for the federally-funded Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program. Every applicant must fill-out the pre-application for the voucher program through the Internet only.

The Section 8 tenant-based program is a rental assistance voucher program that is funded by the Federal Government through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

More than 30,000 Tennesseans are assisted with rental payments through the Program.

Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) assists approximately 5,800 families through nine regional field offices, administering the Program to provide rental assistance to very-low income families and individuals in 75 counties through out the state.
