Sen. Raymond Finney (R-Maryville) was hospitalized at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville on November 24th.
Finney fell from a ladder and injured his right leg while doing repairs at his home. This injury produced a blood clot in the right leg (phlebothrombosis).
The clot produced none of the expected symptoms or signs, until a small fragment broke loose Saturday morning (a small pulmonary embolus). At this time, the diagnosis was obvious to the Senator, who is a retired physician. His wife drove him to Blount Memorial Hospital, where the diagnosis was confirmed by CT scan.
He is being treated with the usual anticoagulation therapy, and is comfortable. No further complications of the blood clot have occurred, and Finney expects to be released within the next couple of days and
expects full recovery.
