ABINGDON, VA (Monday, October 22, 2007) – Later this month, Food City officials are slated to present the American Diabetes Association with a check in excess of $70,000.  The monies were derived from the company's recent ADA Coupon Book sales campaign.

"We are thrilled at the show of support our program received and excited to be able to make such a great contribution to this extremely worth-while cause.  Many of our customers, associates, friends and families are affected by this dreaded disease and Food City is proud to play a part in helping find a cure," said Emerson Breeden, director of community relations for Food City.

The annual promotion, which ran during August and September, featured the sale of specially marked booklets filled with over $40 in money-saving coupons.  The coupons included a variety of grocery items and valuable diabetes related pharmacy coupons.  Booklets were available in all Food City locations for a $1 donation, with the proceeds benefiting the American Diabetes Association.
