The City of Alcoa has filed a "PETITION FOR ABATEMENT OF NUISANCE" with the Blount County Circuit Court seeking to cease the use of the property at 112 E. Newcomen Street, Alcoa, due to nuisance activities. The property is owned by Hazel Mahone Shook and is occupied by Johnny H. Walker, Sandra D. Walker, and Johnny R. Walker Jr., all Respondents in the case.
This action has been taken as a result of numerous investigations, arrests and police reports of criminal activities over the last several years at this location. These include illegal drug possession and sales, quarreling, drunkenness, and fighting and breaches of the peace.
The Alcoa Police Department and Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force have provided official documents supporting the allegations in the Petition. The documents are on file in the Circuit Court Clerk's office as exhibits to the Petition.
Tennessee State Law defines public nuisance and provides the means to eradicate a public nuisance through court ordered seizure and forfeiture of all property used in connection with conducting or maintaining a nuisance.
