The City of Sevierville Police Department (SPD) participated in a multi-jurisdictional DUI checkpoint on Friday, August 31, 2007.
The SPD, along with the Sevier County Sheriff's Department and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, conducted the checkpoint on West Main Street near the City limit.
The checkpoint was conducted from 11:00PM – 1:00AM. 10 warnings and 36 citations were issued. Citations were issued for expired registration, revoked or suspended drivers license, not wearing safety belts and other violations.
Five persons were arrested, including four DUI arrests.
A total of 872 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. Of those vehicles 5.5% were in violation in one way or another.
