A Townsend man sustained severe injuries when he lost control of his motorcycle on Highway 72 East inside Monroe County about one-tenth of a mile from Highway 129, Sunday afternoon.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, about 5:40 p.m. Roger S. Myers, 30, of Townsend, TN was eastbound on Highway 72 East when he lost control of his motorcycle and ran off the right side of the road. The cycle slid under a guardrail seriously injuring his ankle and leaving him with several lacerations to his back.

Monroe County EMS and Vonore Volunteer Fire Department responded. EMS called Lifestar to the scene to transport Myers to University of Tennessee Medical Center. Troopers Bryan Martin and John Pedigo investigated. Monroe County Sheriff's Capt. Bill; Johnson assisted.

Myers was charged with failure to maintain lane and improper registration, according to Trooper Martin.
