The Sevier County School System announced in a Thursday press release that high school athletes in the county who participate in six different named sports will be required to submit a drug test prior to participating in their respective sport.
The release sent by Director of Schools, Dr. Jack Parton, states that student-athletes who plan to participate in the fall sports—football, volleyball, cross-country, girls soccer, golf and cheerleading—will be required to take a drug test prior to the beginning of the respective sport’s competitive season.

“I’m all for it,” said Lee Ramsey, the assistant golf coach at Seymour High School whose son—Andrew—is an SHS golfer and will be one of the athletes required to submit a drug screen before the start of the season.
