Medic Regional Blood Center invites all eligible blood donors to give blood in honor or in memory of their mother. All blood donors receive a year's credit towards Medic's Family Blood Coverage Program each time they donate. This coverage program exempts donors and their IRS dependents from paying blood collection and processing fees at any U.S. hospital if a transfusion is needed.
"Medic is proud to be one of the only blood banks in the country offering this special incentive. However, many people do not know that you can give your credit to someone who is not eligible to give blood. For instance, some mothers may not be able to donate so this is a significant gift since you never know when you or a loved one will need blood," explains Christi Fightmaster, Medic public relations. Donors inform employees at time of donation that they wish to give the credit to someone else. Medic employees only need name, address, and phone number of the person receiving the credit.
The donor center on Ailor Avenue is open seven days a week for donor convenience. Community blood drives are also planned:... read the rest of the story by Subscribing now.
