The King's Academy is combining three major school events into one full day as its traditional Alumni Day coincides this year with its popular Spring Carnival and unique International Food Fest. These three events will become Festival at the Academy as the academy opens its campus to the community Saturday, May 5, 2007.

Up to 1,000 visitors are expected on the Seymour campus for the event.

The Alumni Day component of the Festival invites graduates and former students, as well as former employees, back to the campus for reunions starting at 9:30 a.m. Lunch is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. and a special program for alumni will be held in Woody Auditorium at noon. Alumni are encouraged to bring the entire family and stay for the carnival in the afternoon.

The carnival, located in the Stokely Gymnasium/ Huskey Field complex from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. will feature something for everyone. Venues and booths include climbing wall, pony rides, dunking booth, inflatable joust competition, moonwalk, tea cup ride, bungee run, and miniature train rides. Themed baskets of every shape, size, and colorful contents will be offered in the Silent Auction.

With the additional people on campus, "Barney Fife" (aka Sammy Sawyer) has been called in to assist with crowd control during the Festival. Sawyer performs widely in the character of the beloved deputy sheriff from the Andy Griffith Show.
