Calling all Moms and Grandmothers! The Rel Maples Institute of Culinary Arts at Walters State and The University of Tennessee Extension are partnering to sponsor a special day just for you! The Magnificent Outstanding Moms Day will be held on April 21, from 9:00 – 2:30 at the Walters State Sevier County Campus.
The morning will be filled with workshops designed to encourage moms and grandmothers. Dr. Barbara Taylor, Marriage Family Therapist will discuss positive discipline. Katy Hasty, RD from the Health Department will address nutrition for picky eaters. Joe Fall, Department Head of Hospitality Business at Walters State will inspire women about inexpensive education opportunities that enhance job skills. Linda Hyder, Extension Agent will suggest some stress reducing tips. Workshops will be held from 9:15 – 12 noon.
"Table Decorating on a Budget" will be shared as participants enjoy a buffet lunch. Following lunch, Walters State Students will model fashions from "Play It Again Sam." Learn the secrets of high cost fashion looks without spending the high cost.
The closing finale of this day will be a food demonstration/class by the Rel Maples Institute of Culinary Arts, led by Chef Catherine Hallman. "Tips on Being Your Own Chef" will impress moms and grandmothers with healthy quick cooking tips! Class participants will even "taste judge" an array of desserts! Door prizes will also be awarded!
