The Sevierville Police Department (SPD) has arrested three juveniles and one adult on charges stemming from two separate incidents. All four arrests were made on January 31, 2007.
According to SPD Sgt. Ken Garner, at approximately 2:45AM on January 13, 2007, an explosive device was detonated on the porch of a private residence located on Rivers Edge Lane. The explosion did not cause any damage or injuries. 18-year old Nick A. Lay of Sevier County and a 17-year old Sevier County male were arrested on a charge of Prohibitive Weapons – Explosive Device in connection with that incident.
The SPD was notified on January 11, 2007 at about 8:00AM of an incident wherein a portable toilet at a construction site located at 1048 Fine Glen had been damaged. In that incident an explosive device was apparently detonated inside the portable toilet causing significant damage. There were no reported injuries. Sgt. Garner arrested a 16-yeald old male and a 15-year old male, both of Sevier County, on a charge of Prohibitive Weapons-Explosive Device. The 15-year old male was also charged with vandalism in connection with that incident.
In both incidents, police believe that legal fireworks were used to cause the explosions.
