The town of Beech Mountain, known for its excellent winter sport activities, is introducing the newest addition to the community’s winter festivities. On February 17, Beech Mountain will host a “Winter Market,” designed to be a gourmet escape for tourists and town locals. Beech’s “Winter Market” will offer everything from gourmet treats and Mary Kay products to candles, photography and fancy items for the house. Market shoppers can also enjoy a nighttime fireworks display or visit the snow filled slopes of Ski Beech Resort.
The market will be held in Beech Mountain Town Hall, located next to the town’s visitor center, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and it is the second “market” the community will host.
“In December we held a ‘Mistletoe Market,’ and people really enjoyed the unique gifts, festive atmosphere and holiday spirit,” said Peggy Coscia with the Beech Mountain Chamber of Commerce. “We got amazing feedback from shoppers that attended the first market, which was also an amazing success for the independent vendors, that we decided to open up the town for a second market.”
The Winter Market offers a unique opportunity for ladies, couples or families to enjoy a day of gourmet food and cosmetic experts, all combined in the picturesque town of Beech Mountain. Several independent business owners will be present to offer their services and talents to local and visitors alike.
Carolyn Kirkup of Home Interiors will be present with a collection of gift sets and various items, including candles. Homemade Gourmet representative Carol Sposoto will be on-hand to offer an array of dips, cheese balls, soups, entrees and muffins.
“The Market is an excellent business opportunity for individual business owners to market their products,” said Sposoto. “It’s also a great combination because shoppers get to take advantage of all of the great offerings that are available in the area in one location.”
Mary Kay will have a combination of makeup, beauty creams and application tips to offer for women shoppers looking to add a touch of glamour to the day.
Ralph Miller, local photographer and maker of wooden gifts, will be at the market showcasing and selling his photography and gifts.
Beech will also be hosting a fireworks display on February 17 at 10:30 pm., allowing couples and families to catch an exciting fireworks show under the moonlit slopes of Ski Beech Village.
“This is a great time of year to escape with that special someone for a relaxing, romantic weekend,” said Coscia. “Our cozy community offers privacy for those who want to stay in and snuggle by the fire, adventure for those who want to go skiing or hiking and events, such as this market for those who want to do a little shopping.”
