Little River Road reopened
After Federal Highway Administration engineers inspected the rockslide on Little River Road last Friday, it was determined that the recent disturbance did not undermine the rock structure. Park Maintenance employees cleared the remaining debris off the road and Park Rangers opened Little River Road at 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning,

Erik Ainge, Quarterback for the Tennessee Volunteers threw for two touchdowns in a Vols victory over the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday. Running back Adrian Foster ran for three 1-yard touchdowns, as the Vols racked up 383 yards in offense and went a perfect 6 for 6 in scoring, allowing them to improve their standings in the talent-rife South Eastern Conference.
Maryville man arrested, charges include drugs, child porn
39 year-old Andrew Michael Getty was taken into police customer by the Blount County Sheriff’s department Friday night on charges ranging from possession of drug paraphernalia to an involvement in child pornography. The drug paraphernalia was found during a raid of Getty’s home, as were the images of child pornography, which were taken from Getty’s hard drive from his personal computer.
Football players, off the hook in shooting
Five Lenoir County High School football players will not face a suspension after being accused of firing an air soft gun which subsequently injured several students on the Lenoir County High-School campus. While Lenoir County High School Administrators decide on a lesser punishment for the boys, several parents of the boys that were injured are calling for a stiffer penalty from school administrators. However, it is unlikely that the boys will receive a harsher sentence, according to Superintendent Wayne Miller, who cited a legal opinion in offering a lesser punishment from a legal consultant in Nashville that basically stated that the air gun was considered a weapon because it did not use gunpowder.
