Chamber receives $1,000.00 grant from Sam’s Club Community Grant Program

The 7th Annual Chamber Mini Golf Tournament took place Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Ripley’s Davy Crockett Mini Golf Course. 27 teams competed during this exciting fund raising event with Heritage Mountain Rentals taking 1st Place; Park Vista Hotel and Convention Center won 2nd Place; and Maui Wowi of Tennessee took 3rd Place.

The tournament was highly successful due to the overwhelming participation by the membership. The income generated from the tournament is for the Chamber’s Educational Fund which allows the chamber the ability to offer many programs such as: hospitality scholarships, local school needs, and Member Educational opportunities such as the tremendously successful Hospitality Training Series.
Sherry Arnold of Sam’s Club Knoxville was on hand to present Vicki Simms, Executive Director of the Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce with a $1,000 Grant check designed for non-profit organizations. Ms. Simms stated that she was very honored and pleased to accept the grant money on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce.
This grant to the chamber’s educational fund will provide new and innovative educational opportunities for the membership and the community.
The Gatlinburg Chamber wishes to express appreciation to the event sponsors of this year’s tournament: Ripley’s Davy Crockett Mini Golf, Smoky Mountain Brewery, Sam’s Club, Pepsi Bottling Company as well as to everyone who participated by playing, sponsorship or donation.
