Liberal Memphis Congressman has missed one out of six votes …
…Says he doesn’t even know
what votes he is missing
Chattanooga, TN – The Bob Corker for U.S. Senate campaign today highlighted that Washington Congressman Ford is once again deceiving Tennessee voters, going back on his word, and skipping out on key votes on issues that are important to all Tennesseans. Despite saying that he “won’t miss the important (votes),” Congressman Ford missed critical votes on security, protecting our children, and private property rights.
“It seems that Congressman Ford would rather go across the state calling people names than to actually do his job and vote on issues that matter to Tennesseans,” Corker Campaign Manager Ben Mitchell noted. “He told the voters of Tennessee that he wouldn’t miss important votes, yet yesterday he added to his abysmal attendance record in the House by missing votes on protecting our children from being taken across state lines to have abortions, modernizing the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and protecting private property rights. The fact that Congressman Ford does not think that votes on our children’s welfare, private property, and making sure that our Second Amendment rights are upheld are not important, shows he does not share our Tennessee values.”
In today’s Chattanooga Times Free Press, Ford was asked by Corker what vote he was missing. According to the newspaper account, Ford responded, “I don’t know…”
“When you pretend to support the Second Amendment, it’s probably not a good idea to miss a key vote that the NRA has been backing,” Mitchell said. “Given his track record, why would Tennesseans risk their vote on a liberal Washington talker who barely shows up to work?”
Ford: “I Might As Well Put You On Notice Now. I’m Going To Miss Some More (Votes) … Unfortunately, I Gotta Raise $15 Million (For His Senate Campaign), And I Gotta Figure Out How I Can Touch A Few Million Voters To Win This Race, But I Won’t Miss The Important (Votes).” (Hank Hayes, “Ford Calls For Suspension Of Federal Gas Tax,” Kingsport Times News, July 7, 2006)
