Blount County Sheriff James Berrong said today that a 41-year-old Mascot man was killed in a one-vehicle collision on Miser Station Road at around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Roger Lason, Jr., 41, of Mascot, was traveling north on Miser Station Road near Rhett Butler Drive in a 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix and lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a curve. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck a culvert, causing the vehicle to overturn. Lason was partially ejected from the vehicle through the driver’s side window. The vehicle came to a rest on its top.
There were no passengers in the vehicle. Lason was not wearing a seatbelt, and no airbags were available in the vehicle.
Lason was taken by Rural/Metro Ambulance Service to Blount Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A registration check of the vehicle determined that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Knoxville.
The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit is continuing their investigation into the accident.
