As high school football season nears, the veteran coaching staff at Seymour High School will host a youth football camp a little more than a month before they lead the 2006 version of the Eagles onto the field for the season opener against Heritage.
The camp will be held primarily for youngsters in the second through eighth grades. It will take place from July 17th through July 20th at the Seymour’s legendary Benton Householder Field from 9 a.m. until noon.
Longtime Eagles head coach Gary Householder is the camp coordinator.
Householder and his staff will focus on teaching football fundamentals and safe techniques in each aspect of the game, including offensive line play, defensive line play, footwork, passing, receiving, ball handling, kicking, punting and secondary play.
Seymour High School top assistants Jim Moore and Cotton Julian, along with several other longtime staff members and former and current players, will also assist at the camp.
The cost of the three-day session is $50. Prospective participants are urged to make checks payable to Future Eagles Football Camp.
For additional information about the upcoming camp call the Seymour High School main office at 577-7040. Parents or guardians of the would-be campers can also contact Householder at 453-1585, or Julian at 577-6982, or Moore at 577-7499.
