Dr. Jan Moore, who previously was vice-principal at Boyds Creeks Elementary School and Seymour Middle School, has been chosen to be the new principal at Seymour Primary School. “I’m very excited,” stated Moore. “This is what I have prepared myself for academically and experience wise. I’ve talked with Ms. Fenton and I am walking into a good situation to a school that has had good leadership with good facility and good parent support.”
Moore will begin her position the first of July. Moore has taught grades 1st through 8th as well as teaching technology and currently works on the facility for Tusculum College.
Peggy Oakes who has been acting as interim principal at Seymour Intermediate School has been named the permanent principal replacing Susan Latham who recently moved on to a new position as supervisor for teachers of grades 3rd, 4th and 5th and for art and music teachers in the county.
Superintendent of Schools Jack Parton stated, “We have two principals with a good understand of the Seymour community and they will be a welcome asset into the administration. I’m sure they will do a great job in their new positions.”
