Sevierville Police Department (SPD) officers responded to a reported stabbing at 226 East Main Street, a private residence, at approximately 5:00PM today, Sunday April 2, 2006.
Officers found the alleged adult stabbing victim outside, at the rear of the residence. He was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center via Lifestar Air Ambulance with what appeared to be a knife wound in his upper chest. Information obtained by the SPD indicated that the wound did not appear to be life threatening.
After interviewing witnesses, SPD officers were able to locate and ultimately arrest a suspect. SPD Lt. Todd Naillon arrested 32-year old Marvin M. Mendoza Duarte at his Wye Road address in Sevierville and charged him with aggravated assault. He was transported to the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department for booking.
According to witnesses, Duarte was at 226 East Main Street having dinner with friends and family. The victim, who lives at 226 East Main Street, came home just before 5:00PM and reportedly began to argue with Duarte over where Duarte had parked his car at the residence. The argument between Duarte and the victim, who apparently know each other, escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Duarte allegedly stabbed the victim with a knife once in the upper chest.
The name of the victim is unavailable at this time.
SPD Detective Kevin Bush is leading the investigation into the incident.
