Two car accident on Chapman Highway sent three to the hospital. Traffic backed up for at least a mile both on Hwy 411 and Boyds Creek. South bound traffic on Chapman Highway was stopped for nearly 10 minutes.
A Ford Escort driven by a female and a passenger appeared to have rear ended a Dodge Caravan occupied by a female.
Witnesses told The Herald the Caravan was going to turn left into Peacock Lane when the Escort struck it from behind.
“That makes three accidents I’ve seen during the daylight hours since we’ve been working on this job,” stated a TDOT employee named George. “I’ll be glad with the turn lane will be finished,” he continued.
The center turn lane has been discussed for the past 12 years. It was finally approved nearly five years ago.
Sevier Sheriff’s Department, Sevierville Ambulance, Seymour Volunteer Firefighters and Tennessee Highway Patrol were at the scene.
