The City of Maryville has hired Seymour-native Jane M. Groff to fill the position of events coordinator.
Groff started her career in 1990 at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge where she served several capacities until being named Special Events Operations Manager in 2001. Groff was responsible for the planning and implementation of the Dollywood Festival of Nations, KidsFest, National Gospel and Harvest Celebration, and Smoky Mountain Christmas.
Her main responsibilities will be the City’s annual Foothills Fall Festival which includes annual planning, coordination, sponsorship recruitment, and entertainment bookings. The festival is in its seventh season and will be held October 13 through 15.
“Jane is a great addition to the city,” said Maryville City Manager Gary Hensley. “Her record of success at Dollywood, who has millions of visitors annually, is going to be a great asset to the Foothills Fall Festival,” Hensley said.
A native of Seymour, Groff is a graduate of Heritage High School. She attended the University of Tennessee where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. In the community, she is a member of Leadership Tomorrow, serves various organizations with special projects, was a literacy volunteer with the Friends of Literacy, and currently serves as a volunteer instructor of English for Speakers of Other Languages in Sevier County.
