The man accused of two first degree murder charges, Terry Edwin Justus, 38, will begin his trial today. Justus is charged with strangling Sharon Jeanne Acosta to death using a black wire. According to the warrant, the event took place on July 2, 2005 during an argument at his home concerning her unborn child.
Justus allegedly buried Acosta, who was six-months pregnant at the time, in a ditch on Boyds Creek Rd.
Acosta was last seen leaving her place of employment at America’s Cuts on Chapman Hwy. in South Knoxville on July 1st.
Justus’s bond was set at $2 million.
Acosta left behind a seven-year-old son. Acosta’s brother Daniel Acosta has been caring for the boy since his sister’s death.
Justus is facing life in prison which carries 51 calendar years before he is eligible for patrol.
