“This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home.” Well actually they were “big piggies” and they recently traveled to the Regional and State 4-H Market Hog Shows.  Tyler and Jared Bruhin participated in both the regional and state show, while Casey and Cody Green participated in the state show.  Regional competition was held in December at The University of Tennessee Agricultural Campus in Knoxville, while the state show was at Middle Tennessee University in Murfreesboro.       Both sets of brothers represented themselves well, participating in the market hog classes, showmanship classes and skillathon.  The skillathon test the 4-H members knowledge of the market hog project as it relates to feed, breed and meat identification, along with production and health practices.  Over 100 4-H members from across the state, participated in the state show.      The Sevier County Livestock Association recognized all Sevier County 4-H members who showed livestock this past year at their annual meeting on January 12, 2006.  Sevier County 4-H appreciates the support the Livestock Association provides to the 4-H program.  Pictured above are those 4-H members who attended.     Congratulations to the Senior High 4-H Team, from Sevier County High School, that participated this past Saturday in the Eastern Region 4-H Horse Bowl and Hippology contest, at The University of Tennessee. Justin Lewis, Cimber Strange, Katie Ellis and Jenny Holt represented themselves well.  Thanks to Misty Larrance for coaching this team.
An informational meeting for 4-H members interested in showing horses and participating in horse judging will be held on Thursday, February 2nd, in the 4-H Office, Room102E, Sevier County Courthouse.  4-H members and parents are encouraged to attend.  Meeting time is from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Please call Glenn Turner at 453-3695 if you have any questions.
