Minor power outages reported
Heavy downpours and high winds rumbled across Sevier County last night causing power outages and a few minor fender benders.
From about noon into the evening hours on Wednesday, steady winds in excess of 20 m.p.h brought down a few trees and rattled utility wires.
According to Greg Smelcer with the Sevier County Electric System, seven different minor power outages occurred across the county, but in no specific areas. Smelcer said that the outages were minor and were quickly restored.
Heavy storms dumped plenty of rain on the roads just in time for rush hour traffic. With the exception of a few minor fender benders reported by Gatlinburg Police Department and the county Sheriff’s department, there were no major problems caused by the unusual weather.
