Sheriff James Berrong said today that a 22-year-old Knoxville man was arrested and charged with several charges stemming from a traffic stop recently in Alcoa.
Dawon Robert Moulton, 22, Bradshaw Garden, Knoxville, is being held on bonds totaling $33,000 in the Blount County Detention Facility pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. December 28. Moulton is charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (crack cocaine) with intent to resell, evading arrest, resisting arrest, and criminal impersonation. He is also wanted in Knox County on an outstanding warrant for violation of probation.
Blount County deputies initiated a traffic stop on Bessemer Street in Alcoa for driving left of center shortly before midnight last night. Moulton, a passenger in the vehicle, gave deputies a name that was later determined to be false. While deputies were checking the status of the driver and passenger, Moulton fled on foot. An Alcoa Police Department K-9 officer apprehended Moulton on Edison Street. A baggie containing several rocks of crack cocaine was found near Moulton.
The driver of the vehicle, Latoya Shontay Franklin, 22, Bessie Harvey Street, Alcoa, was charged with driving on a suspended license. She was released today on a $1,000 bond.
